Recycling at Events

Vermont has various wonderful fairs, festivals, and special community events. These events can range from small gatherings to multi-day events and produce large amounts of waste. Recycling at events saves waste disposal costs, and landfill space, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and saves natural resources, and it’s the law. In addition, most people are accustomed to recycling at home and would like to be able to recycle at events they attend.

To assist event planners with recycling, WSWMD lends event containers for use at events (called Event Recycling Stations). Each station consists of a trash, recycling, and composting receptacle. To request the use of the bins, please fill out the WSWMD Event Bin Reservation Form.

Two types of event recycling stations are available:

Option 1:

Our newest option is the 3-bin Recycling Station. This is an all-in-one station that collapses into five pieces for easy transport. Each section of the container—recycling, compost, and trash—can hold a 30-gallon plastic bag. The signs are provided and fit into clear sleeves located on the top of each section. The dimensions are 30 inches wide, 20 inches deep, and 31 inches high. WSWMD will supply 28-gallon compostable bags and two 30-gallon bags for trash & recycling per bin.

The cost to replace each station is $275 if it is damaged or lost.

Option 2:

Each station contains three lightweight, 30-gallon corrugated plastic recycling bins that can be easily folded for transportation.

The replacement cost for each station is $175 if damaged or lost.

Please see the Event Recycling Station Lending Policy (pdf) for details.

To request the use of the bins, please fill out the online WSWMD Event Bin Reservation Form.
