WSWMD Solar Project

| WSWMD News

WSWMD has an agreement with Greenbacker Capital to operate our 5 megawatt AC solar array on the District’s closed and capped landfill. WSWMD will receive lease payments in the amount of $120,290 annually for at least a total of 20 years.  The solar array was energized on July 3, 2018.

The project consists of:

  • Approximately 15,936 solar panels on 21 acres.
  • 3,108 concrete supports on the landfill so there is no penetration of the landfill cap.
  • 83 inverters to convert DC to AC.
