Vermont bans the disposal of rechargeable and lead-acid batteries in the trash! Many types of batteries contain hazardous materials and may become hazardous waste when disposed of IMPROPERLY. Smoke detectors are accepted at the scale house during regular business hours. There is no charge and they will be recycled properly, do not dispose of in your household trash. No access sticker is required for smoke detectors. (This also includes Carbon Monoxide detectors and Radon detectors)
