Plastic grocery bags can NOT be placed in the recycling drop-off containers or your curbside recycling containers. Please dispose of dirty plastic bags with your household trash.
Please check with your local grocery stores for recycling programs. (Most grocery stores and Walmart offer plastic bag recycling, as long as the bags are clean and dry)
Plastic bags can be reused, but not recycled or composted at our facility. Bags marked “biodegradable” are not compostable, either, as they take too long to break down. (Read the fine print, most of them are green and make you think they’re compostable or good for the environment).
For alternative recycling of clean plastic bags and plastic film, check out NexTrex, where most grocery stores recycle plastic bags into composite lumber. Follow this link to find a drop-off near you!
