Board of Supervisors- (BOS)

Each town in the district is allowed one voluntary representative and one voluntary alternate to the board. Representatives must be appointed by their town’s select board. The WSWMD Board of Supervisors (BOS) meets on the second Thursday of the month at 6 P.M. (except in February and July), typically following the Finance Committee meeting. Alternates cannot vote if the primary representative is present at the meeting. Board members serve for one year and are appointed without any term limits. A town must submit new paperwork if changing their representative(s).

Board members have several related responsibilities:

  • To communicate what is happening at the district level to their appropriate town officials as necessary
  • To support recycling, solid waste, and household hazardous waste (HHW) education and collection programs sponsored by the district
  • Attend conferences, webinars, and tours at each member’s discretion
  • Each board member is encouraged to participate in the Finance and Policy & Personnel Committees
