WSWMD Compost Demonstration Site

The Compost Demonstration site features a variety of compost tumblers, bins, and tools. Information about the bins, costs, and “how to compost” is kept on-site. Feel free to look around at the bins on display and take an informational flyer. (Flyers are also available in the office.)

The Backyard Demonstration Site is available for self-guided learning and private demonstrations. It can be utilized by garden clubs, schools, community groups, and others interested in offering compost workshops and hands-on learning experiences. District staff will provide periodic free compost training sessions open to the public.

Are you interested in setting up a private demonstration for your garden club? Would you like to organize a program for your school or town to set up a demonstration? Are you curious about our next public workshop? We can help!

For more information, please reach out to our outreach coordinator, Alex Lacy.

A free home-composting workshop is coming up at the WSWMD compost demonstration area:
Saturday, May 9th 2pm – 4pm
Rain or shine, wear weather-appropriate clothes, park at the office building, and bring your questions! All levels of experience with composting are welcome—the more the merrier. Workshops may last for only 1 to 1 1/2 hours, and we will be joined by Alex, the WSWMD outreach coordinator, as well as 1-2 VT Master Composters. We will cover the basics of home composting, various styles of home composting, and help you build your composting confidence!
