Latex Paint
We cannot accept latex paint. If the latex paint is reusable, it will be accepted at the WSWMD Swap Shop on Old Ferry Road, Brattleboro from April through October, the first Saturday, during the Swap Shop hours. It can be brought daily to ReNew Salvage on Putney Road, Brattleboro.
Latex Paint is NOT accepted at the HHW collections. It can be dried out and disposed of in the trash. If there is just a little bit of paint left, then removing the lid should dry it out. If there is a lot of paint left over, add kitty-litter or sawdust as a quick absorbent. Paint hardener is also sold in the hardware stores. When the paint has hardened, replace the lid and throw the can in the trash.
Note: the container cannot be recycled even if the hardened paint is removed. Paint residue will contaminate the tin during the recycling process. |
