School and Community Programs
The WSWMD knows that constant education is needed to keep everyone up to date with the recycling and special waste collection programs. The following services are provided to all member communities at no charge or for a minimal fee. Please contact us if you would like to use the services or have any questions.
In-Class Presentations WSWMD offers in-class presentations on a wide variety of solid waste topics (e.g. composting, hazardous waste, recycling, packaging) that will enhance any soils, natural resources, water and nutrient cycles, or recycling curriculum. Presentations can be designed for just about any topic and tailored to any age group, from K-college. Visits do not have to be limited to only one. There is no fee.
Teacher Training Workshops/Co-teaching Let our Solid Waste Educator present curriculum ideas through presentations designed for in-service workshops, as well as, co-teaching in the classrooms. There is no fee.
Assembly Programs WSWMD contracts with Association of Vermont Recyclers to do assembly programs in District schools.
Curricular Materials WSWMD has a variety of curricular materials to help educators teach students about solid waste. All materials are available for up to two weeks at no charge.

Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) Tours Visit the Materials Recycling Facility on Old Ferry Road and see how your recyclables are processed. All are welcome. School and community groups, families and individuals, anyone interested. Just call the District and arrange a visit: 257-0272 .
